In 1998 I was getting bored in the world of computer programming. I was introduced to these funny little round things with holes in them....A Bead You Say?
The more I was around beads the more I started to get it! These little things are amazing. I met Persis Chase, a local bead maker who learned the art at Pratt in Seattle. Well lucky for me, she needed to have her studio finished i.e. sheet rocked and painted and I just happen to know how to sheet rock. So, I made a deal with her, I'll finish the walls for a little in torch class time. To back up a little, I have always been good with tools. I designed a bike rack specifically designed for the Mazda Miata, there wasn't a nice one out there in my opinion so out to the shop I headed, bent some steel a little welding and the rest is history.
So here are the first 5 beads I made, needless to say Persis was a bit disgusted with how easy it was for me to pick up. So after 1 two hour lesson I was hooked. Had to buy the entire setup, which took a couple months, along with the book I think most bead makers have "Making Glass Beads" by Cindy Jenkins.

The rest is history, influenced by many, friends with John, Larry, Sharon, Laurie...well anyone who will talk to me. I hope to see you at a show.
